Stuart (Royal house : 1371-1714)
Royal dynasty of Scotland founded by King Robert II in 1371. The House of Stuart united the crowns of Scotland, England, and Ireland in 1603 with the death of Queen Elizabeth I, who died without an heir. During the reign of Queen Anne I, On 1 May 1707, under the Acts of Union, the kingdoms of England and Scotland united as a single sovereign state known as Great Britain. Under the Act of Settlement 1701, which excluded all Catholics, Queen Anne was succeeded by her second cousin George I of the House of Hanover in 1714 upon her death.
