Habsburg-Lorraine (Imperial house : 1765-1918)
The Habsburg-Lorraine imperial line began when Emperor Joseph II inherited the imperial throne from his father Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor and Duke of Lorraine in 1765. He inherited the full Habsburg lands with the death of his mother, Empress Maria Theresa of Austria in 1780. The imperial line ended with the dissolution of the empire in 1918.
