Accademia di Santa Cecilia

Originally founded by papal bull in 1585 as a congregation or confraternity for local musicians and composers. It went through periods of change in the Napoleonic era and during the unification of Italy, and today is known as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
