Mannāgašā Qeddus Giyorgis Church

Tābot consecrated 30 July 1894 in small existing building in Addis Ababa; moved 30 September 1895 to a new building; the tābot accompanied Emperor Menilek at the Battle of Ādwā, with the Ethiopian victory coming on the feast day of George (2 March 1896); as a result of his vow before the battle, Menilek began construction of the current church building in February 1907, which was completed by his daughter Zawditu in 1916; building damaged by Italian forces in 1936 and later repaired; coronation place of Empress Zawditu in 1917 and Emperor Ḫāyla Śellāsē in 1930
