Lebanese Maronite Order

Maronite religious order. The Lebanese Order (known also as the Lebanese Order of the Monks of Saint Anthony) was a Maronite monastic order founded in 1695, by Jibrāʼīl Ḥawwā, Yūsuf al-Bitn, and ʻAbd Allāh ibn Mīkhāʼīl al-Qarāʼalī, under the patronage of Patriarch Isṭifān Duwayhī. In 1770, it was divided definitively into al-Rahbānīyah al-Ḥalabīyah (Aleppine branch) and al-Rahbānīyah al-Baladīyah, or the Lebanese Maronite Order, (the Baladite or Lebanese branch).
