Casa Buonarroti (Florence, Italy)

Museum, archive, and family house of Michelangelo Buonarroti in Florence that began in 1858 when Cosimo Buonarroti established a non-profit organization that would take care of the building, archives, and art collections. The building originates on property purchased by Michelangelo Buonarroti in 1508. The property saw expansion and development during the 1500s, and was later split between the great nephews Buonarroto Buonarroti and Michelangelo il giovane Buonarroti. In 1612, Michelangelo il giovane began the restoration and expansion of the palace that is now the Casa Buonarroti. The Casa Buonarroti is supported by the Fondazione Casa Buonarroti.
