Not to be confused with the Syriac Catholic Church located adjacent to this one, or the other Syriac Orthodox church in Mosul on the northern outskirts of the old city; all 3 were dedicated to Mary
Description
Mid-19th century, Mosul had 5 Syrian Orthodox churches, including Mart Maryam [this is the al-Khārijīyah church] (likely existed in the 13th century or earlier); a 6th Syriac Orthodox church, dedicated to Mart Maryam, built in 1896 [this is the al-Qalʻah church]
