Hayʼah al-Miṣrīyah al-ʻĀmmah lil-Kitāb
National library in Egypt, established by Khedev Ismāʻīl in 1870 CE as al-Kutub-khānah in the house of his brother. It has held several official names over time: al-Kutub-khānah al-Khidīwīyah (1870-1892); Dār al-Kutub al-Khidīwīyah (1892-1914); Dār al-Kutub al-Sulṭānīyah (1914-1922); Dār al-Kutub al-Malakīyah (1922-1927); Dār al-Kutub al-Miṣrīyah (1927-1966); Dār al-Kutub wa-al-Wathāʼiq al-Qawmīyah (1966-1971); al-Hayʼah al-Miṣrīyah al-ʻĀmmah lil-Kitāb (1971-1993); and al-Hayʼah al-ʻĀmmah li-Dār al-Kutub wa-al-Wathāʼiq al-Qawmīyah (1993-)
