Buonanni, Filippo, 1638-1725

Italian Jesuit scholar, who taught and wrote on various fields of study, including optics and zoology. He is regarded as the founder of conchology, writing a guide for shell collectors. He was also a skilled engraver and an expert in lacquer production and usage.
