Elisabeth, von Braunschweig-Lüneburg, 1494–1572
Elisabeth of Braunschweig-Lüneburg was a princess of Braunschweig-Lüneburg by birth and Duchess of Geldern by marriage. The marriage was childless, and after becoming widowed, she lived at Geldern Castle. As a zealous Catholic, she gave generous gifts to the local parish church and the church in Kerken and suppressed an attempt to introduce the Reformation at Geldern in 1566.
