León, Luis de, 1527-1591

Augustinian theologian and poet. He held the chair of Theology at the University of Salamanca and then the chair of biblical exegesis. He was tried by the Inquisition in 1582 for his theory of predestination. He was born in Belmonte (Cuenca) around 1527, died in Madrigal de la Altas Torres (Ávila) in 1591.
