French Benedictine monk and theologian, who wrote biblical commentaries, exegeses, and hymns. Controversy surrounding his writings led to his taking refuge in German monasteries, namely Kloster Michelsberg and Saint-Héribert in Deutz, where he was abbot in the final years of his life.
