Guerrero, Francisco, 1528-1599
Spanish composer, choral conductor, and singer, who was active in Spain as well as in Portugal and in Italy. He held the posts of maestro di cappella at the Catedral de Seville, the Catedral de Jaén, and the Catedral de Málaga. He also travelled to the Holy Land. He composed numerous secular pieces and liturgical works, including masses, motets, vespers, and passions. He died in Seville on November 8, 1599.
