Carissimi, Giacomo, 1605-1674
Italian organist, singer, and composer who was from Marino. In the 1620s, he was a singer, then organist at the cathedral of Tivoli, followed by maestro di cappella at San Rufinus of Assisi. At the end of the decade, he became maestro di cappella in San Apolinar at the Pontificio Collegio germanico ungarico. During his career, he composed liturgical works, such as masses and motets, along with oratorios, all of which were highly influential. He died in Rome on January 12, 1674.
