Pier, delle Vigne, 1190?-1249

Italian poet, jurist, administrator, diplomat, and councillor to emperor Frederick II of Hohenstaufen. He was implicated in a treasonous plot against Frederick, arrested, blinded, and died under torture or of suicide soon after. He is remembered in particular for his poetry.
