Passionei, Domenico, 1682-1761

Italian prelate, apostolic nuncio, archaeologist, and collector. He represented the pope at the Congress of Utrecht (1712-1713) and was nuncio to Switzerland (1721) and Vienna (1730). He was an avid collector of books, becoming prefect of the Vatican Library in 1755. In 1738 he was appointed secretary of papal briefs by Clement XII and created cardinal.
