Mechthild, of Hackeborn, 1241 or 1242-1299?

Cistercian nun and mystic, who ran a monastery school in Helfta. She wrote down the visions that she had since childhood, which were compiled and augmented by others into a text entitled Liber specialis gratiae. She was the sister of Gertrude of Hackeborn (St. Gertrude the Great), abbess of Rodersdorf.
