Graves, Robert, 1798-1873

Prominent line engraver in London. He studied with John Romney, produced bookplates, reproductions of famous prints, and illustrations for prominent literature and gift books. He exhibited reproductions of paintings as single large engravings, and in 1836 he was elected an associate engraver of the Royal Academy. He was a member of the Graves family of engravers, printsellers, and writers on art.
