Kurd Mehmed Efendi, 1524 or 1525-1588

He was a Sufi scholar, a member and leader of the Halvetî order, who taught many students and wrote on a range of topics, including law, grammar, dream interpretation, and tafsīr.

Description
Halvetî şeyhi and scholar, died 1588; born in Tatarpazarcıgi, 35 km west of Plovdiv; known as Kurd Dede and Kurd Khalife; left home for Istanbul and entered the Sahn-ı Semân madrasah; studied and joined the Halveti order, ultimately becoming head of the lodge in Sofia; after spending time on the frontiers, he returned to Istanbul, where he trained students; died on a visit to Tatarpazarcık on September 8, 1588
