I︠A︡vorsʹkyĭ, Stefan, 1658-1722

Russian Orthodox archbishop, teacher, poet, and preacher. He studied in Kyiv, L'viv, and Lublin before settling in Kyiv to teach and preach at the Kiev Academy. Through the favor of Peter I, he became Metropolitan of Ryazan and Murom and then Metropolitan of Moscow.
