Biagio, della Purificazione, 1640-1705

Discalced Carmelite from Rome who professed in 1657. He went on to teach philosophy, theology and apologetics, and scripture, as well as serving as the consigliere provinciale (1698 and 1703) and the historiographer of the order. He was a prolific writer.

Biagio della Purificazione (Fausto Sacchi); info drawn from his eulogy; born in Rome in 1640 to a wealthy Christian family; adopted a religious life at the convento di S. M. della Scala at age 16; adopted the habit in 1656 and was consecrated the following year; taught philosophy at Caprarola and then theology and apologetics at Collegio di S. Maria della Vittoria; then scriptures at the convent of Viterbo; consigliere pro vinciale (1698, 1703); historiographer of the order; died in Rome on Nov. 11, 1705
