Dionysius, a Nativitate, 1600-1638

French sailor and cartographer for the king of Portugal, who became a Discalced Carmelite friar and missionary in 1635 and professed in 1636. In 1638, he was sent on mission to Sumatra with the Portuguese legation, where he was killed.
