- Conradus Dasypodius (Rauhfuss? Rauchfuss?); son of humanist Petrus Dasypodius; born c. 1530, probably in Frauenfeld, Switzerland; died Apr. 26, 1600 in Strasbourg; studied mathematics in Strasbourg and became professor of mathematics there in 1562; in 1574 constructed famous mechanical clock in Strasbourg; authored works on mathematics, astronomy, mechanics, astrology; translated mathematical works
