Thomas, de Cantimpré, approximately 1200-approximately 1270
Flemish Augustinian canon and later Dominican friar theologian, preacher, and hagiographer. In 1217, he entered the canons regular of St. Augustine at the abbey at Cantimpré, was ordained a priest while there. He then entered the Dominican Order in 1232, studying theology in Cologne and in Paris, and thereafter teaching philosophy and theology in Louvain.
