Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor, 1194-1250

Holy Roman Emperor; in 1196, Frederick, at the age of two, was elected king by the German princes at Frankfort. A Hohenstaufen and grandson of Frederick I Barbarossa, he pursued the imperial policies of his dynasty against the papacy and the Italian city state. He also joined in the Sixth Crusade from 1228 to 1229.
