Manan Asfāw, Empress of Ethiopia, 1889-1962
She was Empress of Ethiopia from 1930-1962. She was married to three prominent noblemen in Wallo and Šawā before wedding the future Emperor Ḫāyla Śellāsē in August 1911, with whom she had six children. She was crowned Empress alongside her husband in 1930, and went into exile with him in England during the Italian occupation. She died in 1962 and was buried in Qeddest Śellāsē Cathedral.
