Macomber, William F., 1921-2008

Scholar known for his cataloging of and articles about eastern manuscripts. A former Jesuit, he studied at Harvard and the Gregorian University and Oriental Institute in Rome; he taught in Baghdad at Baghdad College (1951-1952), Jāmiʻat al-Ḥikmah (1962-1964), and St. Peter’s Seminary (1965-1968), then served as extraordinarius professor of liturgy at the Oriental Institute in Rome from 1967-1974. He served as a cataloger for the EMML project at the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library, as well as working on cataloging projects for Brigham Young University.
