Catalan theologian, Eiximenis acquired this title in 1374 at the University of Toulouse after studies in Oxford and Paris. He served as a jurat in Valencia and led crusading activity in North Africa. Antipope Benedict XIII appointed him first Patriarch of Jerusalem and later apostolic administrator (interim bishop) of the diocese of Elne
