Bedjan, Paul, 1838-1920
Chaldean missionary and scholar, born in Iran, who entered the Lazarist order in Paris in 1856. He worked in Iran as a missionary from 1861 to 1880, then returned to Europe, where he spent the rest of his life. He is known for his work to provide printed books for the Chaldean community in Iran, including many editions of classical Syriac works. He was a Vincentian pastor and organist as well as an editor of liturgical and theological works in Syriac and a translator of modern Aramaic.
