Sture, Carl, 1555-1598

Carl Sture was Count of Stockholm and Västervik, inheriting his titles from his father Svante Stensson Sture and grandfather Sten Sture the Younger. In 1571 he was court eunuch to King Johan III of Sweden but then served as council for his cousin Duke Karl IX of Sweden. He was chief in the duke's Hölebo district 1577-1596, where he built his castle near Södertälje. He was a lawspeaker for the areas of Närke from 1579 to 1595 and Södermanland from 1595 to his death.
