Jacques, de Vitry, approximately 1170-1240. Historia Occidentalis

The second book of Jacques de Vitry's intended three-part work called the Historia Hierosolimitana, which was begun during the Fifth Crusade to serve as a manual for future Crusades. This second book described the success and failures of the past Crusades, while also describing the people and geography of the regions.
