Marescotti (Family : Bologna, Italy)

The Marescotti noble family comes from Bologna. The first documented Marescotti appears in 1144, when a Raniero Marescotti was appointed cardinal by Pope Lucius II on 18 December 1144, and was titular of the deaconry of Santi Sergio e Bacchus. Another Mariscotti was consul of Bologna and captain general in 1179. The last of the Marescotti, Count Carlo Cesare, died in 1892. The Marescotti have branches in Siena, Rome, Florence, and France.
