Catholic Church. Congregatio Sancti Officii

The Congregatio Sancti Officii was founded by Pius X in 1908 and replaced the Congregatio Romanae et Universalis Inquisitionis seu Sancti Officii. It absorbed several other early modern Congregationes, including the Congregatio Indicis, Congregatio Indulgentiarum et Sacrarum Reliquiarum, and Sacra paenitentiaria apostolica. Pope Paul VI reorganized the Congregatio Sancti Officii in 1965, when it would become the Congregatio pro Doctrina Fidei.
