- Description
- Manuel de Eraso Álvarez, born in Zaragoza ca. 1740; entered the workshop of Francisco Bayeu at age 16 and assisted with the construction of the Capilla de la Virgen del Pilar; from 1762, he studied in Rome for ca. 10 years, returning to Zaragoza in 1774, where he painted and taught students; he was among the first teachers at the school that would become the Real Academia de San Luis; he moved to Burgos to assist with the Academia de Dibujo del Consulado in 1786, and he also worked as an architect in the city; he lost much of his property when French officers occupied his house during the Peninsular War; died early 1813 after editing his will at the end of 1812; Don Manuel de Eraso
