Qoro, Yulios Elias, 1881-1962

Bishop and Patriarchal delegate to Malankara. He was born in Mardin, Turkey; became a monk at Dayr Zaʻfarān, where he also later served as abbot (beginning in 1911); also served as secretary to Patriarch Ignatius Abded Aloho II. In 1923, Patriarch Ignatius Elias III appointed him as a bishop and sent him to India, where he remained for the rest of his life. In 1927, he was appointed as Patriarchal Delegate to Malankara. While in India, he founded the Manjanikkara Dayara.

Qoro, Elias Malke (1881-1962); Patr. delegate to Malankara; studied at the school of the Church of the Forty Martyrs in Mardin; joined Deir al-Zaʻfaran in 1902, became a monk in 1905; ordained priest 1908; secretary to Patriarch ʻAbded Aloho II from 1906, joined him on a trip to Jerusalem, Istanbul, London, Paris, Egypt, and India (1908-1911); abbot of Deir al-Zaʻfaran (1911) and director of its printing press; consecrated bishop in 1923 (honorific title Yulios), appointed as patriarchal delegate to Malankara in 1927; oversaw establishment of several monasteries in India; died in 1962
