- 1899-1981; Lebanese librarian, researcher, translator, scholar of paleography, and philologist; born in Majdalūnā, Shūf, Lebanon; studied Arabic, Latin, French; taught for 6 years in Lebanon then moved to France to specialize in library science, getting master's degree from University of Paris in literature and history; returned to Beirut in 1931, became assistant secretary of Lebanese National Library; collaborated with international libraries and belonged to associations for librarians
