Mkrtič al-Kasīḥ ibn ʻAbdallāh al-Muḫallaʻ; member of the Aleppo literary circle, part of the Christian renaissance in Aleppo; the first Armenian to use the Arabic language in his written works; friends with Melkite Niqūlā ibn aṣ-Ṣāʼiġ and the Maronite Germanus Farḥāt; born in Killis near Aleppo, moved to Aleppo and became a deacon at a young age; writes about ascetic education and as aids for pastoral practice; his earliest dated work was created in 1690
