- Description
- Kaspar S., von Horgen; born ca. 1520, from a respected Swiss family in the canton of Zurich; educated in Germany; teacher and clerk in Zug; took part in the military campaign over the Montcenis to Piedmont among Swiss mercenaries; participated and wrote a song about the 1544 battle at Cerisole and Carignono against the Spanish; wrote a history of Switzerland, designed to be a comprehensive history in response to the partial Swiss chronicle of Johannes Stumpf; also wrote a chronicle about the religious wars of 1528-1531, a chronicle of Zug; was shot and died in 1554 after returning to military service in the Piedmont campaigns in French service
