Valerio, of Bierzo, -695?

Ascetic monk and hagiographer, who renounced his wealth as a Visigothic aristocrat, residing for a time at the Monastery of Compludo (Ponferrada, Spain), and then living as a hermit near Astorga, Spain. He wrote three autobiographies and may have compiled a Vitae sanctorum and Collectum sancti Isidori de novae vitae institutione. The hagiographical Epistola beati Ambrosii de moribus et vita honesta has been attributed to him.
