Ferhâd Paşa, -1798

Ferhâd Paşa was an 18th century Turkish poet, whose only known work is his Divan. He was also an Ottoman official and vizier in Rumelia, who held positions as governor in Adana, Thessalonikē, İnebahtı, Chania, and Ērakleion.

died Oct./Nov. 1798; divan poet; known as Ferhâd Paşa; grew up in Bostancı [Istanbul], became leader of Rumelia with the rank of vizier in 1789; appointed governor of Adana in 1792-93; then governor of Thessalonikē in 1794-95; governor of İnebahtı [Náfpaktos] in 1795 and governor of Chania, then of Ērakleion; he died in this position in 1798; his Dîvân is his only known work
