He was an Ottoman astronomer, astrologer and timekeeper, whose scientific works, because he wrote them in Ottoman Turkish, were used as reference sources by many Ottoman timekeepers.

- Description
- Ottoman astronomer, astrologer and timekeeper; born in Istanbul at the beginning of the 16th century; Muslihuddin Mustafa b. Ali er-Rûmî el-Muvakkit; traditional madrasa education included mathematics/astronomy lessons from Mîrim Çelebi; served as timekeeper at the Sultan Selim Camii; in 1560 became chief astrologer at the palace and was known as Mustafa Çelebi; nickname Koca Saatçi; wrote works in Turkish so they would be more accessible, and they became reference sources for Ottoman timekeepers; practical astronomy, with difficult geometry, trigonometry, especially spherical trigonometry, and numerical analysis
