Yogiyār, active 16th century

A sixteenth-century Kerala ascetic. He was probably born in the Nampūtiri brahmin family Taikkāṭŭ Mana in Edappal (central Kerala). Taikkāṭŭ Mana is a Vaidikan family, whose members are renown experts in the Vedic rituals’ procedure, belonging to the Śukapuram grāma. Before becoming an ascetic, Yogiyār seems to be named Nīlakaṇṭhan Nampūtiri
