He was an East Syriac monk and priest, who produced more than 150 books (both original and translations). His private library was digitized by Hill Museum & Manuscript Library.

Description
البير أبونا = Albīr Abūnā; born in Fīshkhābūr village near Zākhū in northern Iraq in 1928; studied religion for 10 years from 1941 in Mosul, where he learned French and theology; ordained as a priest in 1951, and became a priest for 5 villages in northern Iraq; from 1955 to 1973, he taught Syriac, Arabic, and French in Mosul; he moved to Baghdad, where he studied at the Jāmiʻat Baghdād al-Ārāmīyah; studied French at the University of Mosul; joined Carmelites in France, then returned to Baghdad and worked with the Carmelites there for 18 years, before turning to Chaldean monasticism
