Wirsing, Thomas, approximately 1527-1601
Thomas studied in Wittenberg in 1536 and in Tübingen in 1547. In 1556 he served as pastor in Obermichelbach, then from 1559 to 1601 as pastor in his hometown of Sinbronn. His son Johannes Wirsing took over the position of pastor in Sinnbronn upon his father's death. Thomas kept a detailed diary from 1589 to his death of the events of Sinbronn, compiled in four volumes of nearly 2,400 pages. Its historical value lies in its local focus, revealing how the the pastor navigated his personal, ecclesiastical, and political roles. After his death, his son Johannes continued the diary to 1606.
