- أبروهوم نورو = Abrūhūm Nūrū; بالسريانية:ܐܒܪܗܡ ܢܘܪܐ in Syriac; born in Edessa in 1923, emigrated with family to Aleppo, where he was educated in Syriac schools; initially at the college in Homs, but left for Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut as a member of the faculty of law; left due to illness, eventually returning to Aleppo to establish a program for teaching Syriac to young people; authored books on teaching the Syriac language
