Rangerius, Bishop of Lucca, approximately 1050-1112
Rangerius was appointed bishop of Lucca before the 18th of August, 1097, and he served in that capacity until his death on the 25th of January, 1112. Between 1096 and 1099, he composed a verse hagiography of over seven thousand lines about his predecessor Bishop Anselm II of Lucca. The contents of the hagiography promote Anselm's work in church reform while positioning it in light of controversies contemporary to Rangerius's time.
