Paper merchant, publisher, and print dealer. Born after 1761. Son of the Parisian engraver, publisher and print dealer Jacques-Simon I Chéreau (1732-1786). Married Geneviève Basset, daughter of the publisher and print dealer André Basset, on October 27, 1787 in Paris. Died in Paris on July 19, 1807. His widow succeeded him under the name "veuve Chéreau" or "veuve Chéreau-Matrat"
