- Fromage, Pierre; born in Laon on May 12, 1678; entered Jesuits in Nancy in 1693; studied humanities, rhetoric, and theology; missionary to the Levant, spending several years in Egypt, then Syria; he died in Aleppo on December 10, 1740; he translated more than 30 works into Arabic
