Keşfî, Mehmed Çelebi, -1524 or 1525

He was an historian who served as clerk to Sultan Selim, accompanying him during campaigns in Iran and Egypt. After Sultan Selim's death in 1520, he briefly became Anatolian treasurer. He wrote two histories, one concise and one detailed, about Selim's Iran and Egypt campaigns.

Divan poet, died 931/1524-1525; born in Amasya, real name Mehmed; Mehmed Çelebi; son of Hızır Ağa, governor of Sekbanbaşı and Amasya; served as clerk to Yavuz Sultan Selim, accompanying him during campaigns in Iran and Egypt; became Anatolian treasurer after the death of Yavuz Selim in 925/1520; retired in 927/1520-21 and died in Istanbul; wrote 2 histories, one concise and one detailed, about Selim's Iran and Egypt campaigns; wrote his Turkish Selîm-nâme, which starts with events in 1511; started it in 1514, finished in 1521; it's also known as Bâğ-ı Firdevs-i Guzât, Ravza-i Ehl-i Cihâd or Târîh-i Sultân Selîm Han
