Description
كيريل الخامس=Kīrillus al-Khāmis; born قسطنطين الزعيم=Qusṭanṭīn al-Zaʻīm in Aleppo ca. 1655; nephew of Patriarch Makāriyūs III; elected patriarch in 1672, with the name Kīrillus al-Khāmis; some objected to his election, leading to 2 rival patriarchs (first Neophytos, then Būlus Dabbās/Athanāsiyūs IV) with conflict until 1694, when it was agreed that Athanāsiyūs IV would succeed Kīrillus upon his death; Kīrillus died on January 5, 1720

كيرلس الخامس=Kīrillus al-khāmis; became patriarch of Antioch in 1672, succeeding his uncle Makāriyūs; well-versed in Arabic and Greek; involved in conflict between orthodox and Catholic groups, openly declaring himself Catholic to Pope Clement XI in a letter in 1718, but he died in 1720 before Clement officially confirmed him
